Growing Romaine

I am a total newbie when it comes to gardening but I have had an absolute ball learning more about it over the last few months. I was nervous to get started since I had never done it before but I kept hearing the same advice over and over - just try and then learn as you go. Everyone I talked to said to see what works and doesn't work and then make changes each year.

One of my favorite things I have grown this year is Romaine. It's done incredible which has been neat to watch. I think the cooler temps at the beginning of summer played to my favor. I literally took a packet of seeds and spread them down two rows back in April and they TOOK OFF. I was shocked it actually worked and amazed by all the lettuce we had. I've made all sorts of delicious salads with it and had plenty to share. I think next year I'll do even more romaine and maybe spread it out a tad bit more.

This has been one of our favorite summer salads - romaine with grilled chicken, feta cheese, sugared nuts, and honey balsamic dressing.

Here's a few snapshots I took of the romaine growing over the last two months
