One thing I love doing is opening up our home to friends and family. I grew up with an incredible example of hostessing - my Mom. She always had a beautiful tablescape on her dining room table and made the most delicious meals for others to enjoy in her home. She is still that way!! She definitely helped me learn how to welcome people into my own home in a way that would make them feel loved and cared for. She is the queen of making things special.
Whenever I have a smaller group of ladies over, I really like mixing it up and making "mini charcuterie boards." I purchased these slate boards two years ago from Amazon and they've gotten quite a bit of use. I also took a pottery class for a few months where I made these white dishes that are perfect for meals or these little cheese boards.
If you live near an Aldi or Trader Joes, I highly recommend getting your cheese board items at these two stores. They have some delicious and very reasonable options!
Here are my favorites Charcuterie Items from Trader Joes
- Smoked Dutch Cheese
- Blueberry Goat Cheese
- Unexpected Cheddar Cheese
- Applewood Smoked Salami
- Honeycrisp Apples
Aldi favorites
- Cranberry Cheddar Cheese
- Honey Goat Cheese
- Brie (not shown here but on the larger boards I've made, their brie is great)
- Salt & Pepper Cashews
- Grapes
- Woven Cracked Pepper Crackers
- Garden Vegetable Crackers
*Another favorite cheese that I've found at both Publix and Food Lion is "Yancey's Smoked Gouda with Bacon"
I usually start prepping my boards about 30 minutes before guests arrive. One of the best parts about the mini charcuterie boards is that people actually EAT their boards. I have noticed with large boards, people seem to feel bad for going back for more and I always have leftovers.
