We have been making homemade pizza every Friday night and it has been quite the hit. Much better than grabbing pizza from the options we have closely. We let the kids pick out a movie and enjoy an evening on the screened in porch altogether. Anytime I've made this pizza, there's never been leftovers which is always a good sign. I have the sweetest little helpers whenever I make it.
Recipe
- 1 ball of Italian dough from Publix (you'll find in the bakery section)
- 1 roll of Jimmy Dean Maple Sausage (it has to be maple, it's divine)
- Boars Head Pepperonis
- 2-3 cups of shredded mozzarella
- 1 jar of pizza sauce (I just use the Publix brand)
- One ball of fresh mozarella
- Mike's Hot Honey for finishing touches
Instructions
Set the pizza dough out at least 15 minutes prior to prepping it so it's easier to toss. Go ahead and brown your Maple Sausage then drain it and set aside. Start working the dough through your hands then place it on a pizza sheet (make sure to spray it.) I start moving it out little by little so it doesn't tear. Once your pizza dough is in a large circle, drizzle the pizza sauce on top. I then cover the sauce with shredded mozzarella. Cover the entire pizza with pepperonis then sprinkle the sausage. At this point you will take chunks of the fresh mozzarella and cover the pizza. Follow the directions on the pizza dough bag and bake in the oven.
Mine is typically done after about 22-25 minutes. I like to drizzle Mikes Hot Honey on my slices. This is obviously a no go for the kiddos.
